The 2019 vintage offers a deep garnet color with vibrant purple reflections. The nose is expressive and complex, revealing aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and subtle notes of garrigue (wild herbs), black pepper, and licorice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with soft, well-integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity that leads to a long, savory finish with lingering notes of spice and earth.
Origin & Terroir
Crafted by the legendary Bernard Magrez, this wine is sourced from select vineyards in the Southern Rhône Valley. The region’s Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, is ideal for producing rich, flavorful wines. The soils, composed of clay, limestone, and galets roulés (rounded stones), impart structure, minerality, and excellent drainage, allowing the vines to produce concentrated, high-quality fruit.
Food Pairing
This versatile wine pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, including roasted lamb, beef stew, duck confit, or a classic charcuterie board with hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gouda. For the best experience, decant for 30 minutes and serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F) in a large Bordeaux glass.
