Held over two days at a luxury hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, this workshop welcomed 15 aspiring sommeliers. The Master Sommelier covered the core competencies of the profession: wine service, food pairing, blind tasting, and wine list development. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises, including decanting, pouring, and pairing wines with gourmet dishes.
Key Highlights
The highlight was a “mock exam” simulating the Court of Master Sommeliers tasting portion. Participants were given six wines to identify based on appearance, aroma, and taste. The Master Sommelier provided detailed feedback, helping participants refine their technique. Guests also received a study guide and a set of practice wines to continue their training at home.

Future Initiatives
United Spirits will host quarterly “Sommelier Bootcamps,” preparing candidates for certification exams. The next bootcamp, “Advanced Blind Tasting,” will focus on identifying obscure grape varieties and regions. A digital “Sommelier Study Hub” will also be launched, offering video lessons, practice exams, and expert Q&A sessions.
